Thermal spray coatings add a dense, hard-wearing layer to strengthen or restore a component’s surface properties or dimensions. From wear and corrosion resistance to heat insulation, these coatings extend the overall component life past its original specification. High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) is one widely used thermal spray method, particularly used for Tungsten Carbide, Stellite and Nickel coatings.

By utilising a high-speed jet of fuel gas and an oxygen torch, molten or semi-molten powder is applied and is quickly solidified to create the hardened coating. B&B offers a range of different coating types available for all industries and applications.

The benefits:

  • Ceramic coatings can reduce exhaust surface temperatures by up to one third.
  • Lowers intake temperatures, helping increase engine performance and power.
  • All HVOF coatings enhance resistance to wear, abrasion and corrosion, extending component life.
  • Fewer repairs and less downtime for you and your business leading to cost savings and increased reliability.
  • Certain coatings, such as copper alloy and nickel, improve thermal or electrical conductivity and surface hardness.

Ceramic

Ceramic coatings provide a protective barrier against heat, helping to reduce surface temperatures by up to one third while also improving performance, power and resistance to wear.

→ Commonly used in motor sports, but valuable anywhere heat control matters.

Copper Alloy

Thin and malleable, copper alloy is a cost-effective option that improves electrical and heat conductivity, and creates a smooth undercoat for further processes.

→ Suitable for components that require both precise finishing and reliable performance.

Tungsten Carbide

Known for its strength, Tungsten Carbide coating is the most widely used for wear applications with surface temperatures of less than 500°C.

→ A reliable solution for components subjected to high abrasion and erosion.

Stellite 6

Non-magnetic and extremely resistant to wear, chemicals and oxidation, Stellite alloys hold their strength without affecting the base material properties.

→  Ideal for components exposed to harsh chemical or corrosive environments.

Nickel Alloy

Nickel is one of the most commonly used barriers. Thermal sprayed nickel increases the strength and hardness of the component, extending overall longevity.

→ Essential for chemically corrosive and marine environments.

From motorsport and automotive to aerospace, oil & gas, energy and manufacturing, HVOF coatings are trusted wherever performance and reliability can’t be compromised. That means fewer repairs, less downtime and more value from the parts you already rely on.
